Both Minnesota Gopher basketball coaches have received new contract extensions and raises.

The University of Minnesota announced Tuesday that men's basketball coach Richard Pitino, women's basketball coach Marlene Stollings and softball coach Jessica Allister have been given contract extensions.

According to the Pioneer Press, the extensions for both Pitino and Stollings run through the 2020-21 season.

In addition to the extension, Pitino will receive a $400,000 increase in supplemental compensation from $700,000 to $1.1 million, which will bump his total annual salary to $1.6 million.

He will also receive $450,000 on April 30, 2016 and April 30, 2019 so long as he remains the Gophers coach.

But even with the raise, The Associated Press reports Pitino is still well within the bottom half of Big Ten coaches in terms of compensation.

The Gophers are 43-28 under Pitino in two seasons. He led Minnesota to the NIT Championship in his first season, but they finished 18-14 last season and failed to reach either the NCAA tournament or the NIT.

"I am extremely grateful for this opportunity given to me by President Kaler, Beth Goetz and the University of Minnesota," Pitino said in a statement Tuesday. "Being the basketball coach at this tremendous university is something I cherish every day. My family and I love living in the Twin Cities and we look forward to continuing to build this basketball program the right way."

The university just released the details of the extension Tuesday, months after the terms were agreed to while former athletics director Norwood Teague was still on the job.

Stollings led the Gopher women's team to their first NCAA Tournament since the 2009 season. She saw her supplemental compensation increase from $75,000 to $150,000 annually.

She also will receive her annual raise of at least 5 percent on June 13, instead of July 1.

Last week, the university also announced an extension and raise for Gophers football coach Jerry Kill.
