The Gophers were one of two Big Ten teams to come out on top of their ACC opposition Tuesday, defeating Florida State 71-61.

Minnesota led by as many as 15, and the Seminoles cut the Gophers second-half lead to four with three-and-a-half minutes left, but the maroon and gold finished the game on a 9-3 run to improve to 7-2 on the year.

The Gophers forced 17 FSU turnovers, and a game that featured 52 combined fouls saw the Seminoles miss 10 of their 29 free throws and a few key ones down the stretch t0 seal their defeat.

Despite shooting just 3-of-14 from the field, Andre Hollins led all scorers with 21 points, white Austin Hollins added 16 for Minnesota.

Ian Miller and Okaro White led Florida State with 16 apiece.

It's the second straight year the Gophers have beaten the Seminoles in the conference challenge, and this year's W comes as a particularly impressive one considering FSU nearly defeated No. 22 Michigan, No. 15 Florida, and did beat previously ranked VCU.

The only other of the six Big Ten teams to come out on top in their Big Ten/ACC challenge contest Tuesday was No. 23 Iowa, who beat Notre Dame.

The Gophers take on New Orleans Saturday at Williams Arena.
