The University of Minnesota football team moved up in the college football polls that were released Sunday, but not enough to make the top 25 rankings.

The Pioneer Press reports that Gophers (7-2, 3-2), who pulled off a nail-biter in a 42-39 victory Saturday at Indiana, received 18 votes for 30th in the USA Today coaches' poll. The team, which nailed a three-game Big Ten win streak for the first time since 2008, picked up seven votes for 31st in the Associated Press poll.

It was the program's first showing in a national ranking since Oct. 26, 2008, when the Gophers were No. 20 in both the AP poll and the USA Today coaches' poll.

Minnesota is at home Saturday against Penn State (5-3, 2-2) at TCF Bank Stadium.

The Associated Press reported that No. 3 Florida State advanced on No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Oregon in The Associated Press college football poll, earning four more first-place votes than it did last week. The Seminoles beat Miami 41-14 and received six-first-place votes from the media panel.

Notre Dame moved back into the rankings at No. 24. In the Big Ten, Michigan fell out after losing to Michigan State. The Spartans advance six spots to 18th.
