Gophers lance Spartans for the split

The Minnesota Gopher Hockey team beat Michigan State 3-2 on Saturday to salvage a split in the series in East Lansing, Michigan.

The Gophers took a 3-0 lead over the Spartans then held on in the third period to get the victory.

Minnesota (11-2-3) dominated the game they outshot Michigan State (5-8-1) 38-21.

Christian Isackson had a goal and an assist in the game to lead Minnesota. While, Seth Ambroz and Mike Reilly scored the other two Gopher goals.

Minnesota finished 1 of 4 on the power play and were 4 of 5 on the penalty kill.

Villiam Haag got the Spartans on the board late in the second period, to cut the Gopher lead to one.

Then with one second to go in the game, and with the extra attacker on the ice, the Spartans got a late goal in the third, from Michael Ferrantino to cut the lead to one.

Adam Wilcox finished with 19 saves for the Gophers.
