Fighting Irish outlast hockey Gophers, 4-3

The University of Minnesota men's hockey team came up short in their first game of 2012. The Gophers lost to fifth-ranked Notre Dame in the U.S. Hall of Fame Game at Mariucci arena Saturday night. In the last three minutes the Gophers scored twice, but the Fighting Irish still handed Minnesota their second consecutive loss with a final score of 4-3.

2012 Gophers' hockey schedule released

Next season will be the Gopher men's hockey team's last season in the WCHA, and their schedule is looking very glamorous. Minnesota plays 36 games, 20 at at Mariucci Arena. Two of the non-conference home games are against Notre Dame and defending national champion, Boston College.

Gophers fall to Denver, 5-3

In the WCHA last night the Gophers lost in Denver by a score of 5-to-3. Kyle Rau, Nate Condon and Zach Budish scored for Minnesota. Minnesota Wild prospect Jason Zucker scored for Denver, and he also drew a game misconduct penalty on Rau.
