Grand Rapids native and former Gopher, Alex Goligoski traded to Coyotes

Dallas Stars defenseman and Grand Rapids native Alex Goligoski was traded to the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday afternoon.

Arizona sent a fifth round pick to Dallas in exchange for Goligoski. It's a gutsy move for Arizona because Goligoski is a pending free agent. So the Coyotes must sign him before July 1 or he'll hit the open market.

Despite being a defenseman, the Minnesota native is known for his offensive touch, putting up 37 points last season for the Stars.

Goligoski played high school hockey at Grand Rapids High School and spent three years at the University of Minnesota.
