Harvin 'getting there,' but won't play this week

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll has confirmed that former Viking wide receiver Percy Harvin will not play this Sunday for Seattle when they take on the Buccaneers.

Carroll told SiriusXM NFL Radio that Harvin is "getting close, but not close enough."

Harvin has not played yet this season as he continues to recover from offseason hip surgery, and he came off the physically unable to perform list and began practicing after the Seahawks Week 7 game.

Percy has three weeks from the time he returned to practice to be back on the active roster, per PUP list rules, meaning he will have to be placed on the active roster before Seattle's Week 11 game against Minnesota.

Harvin has always sounded confident he would be back to the field in a timely manner, but an alleged setback last week pushed the timetable for his return to game action back further.

With Harvin's absence Sunday, Seattle will be down two former Vikings wideouts, with this week's news that Sidney Rice tore his ACL and is out for the season leaving Seattle extremely sharthanded.

Quarterback Russell Wilson is left with Golden Tate and Doug Baldwin as his top wideout targets.
