One day after being placed on injured reserve, ending his 2012 season, Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin vowed Thursday to come back "stronger and better than ever" in 2013.

In a statement, Harvin wrote, "I definitely wanted to get back out on the field but my injury has just not allowed me to progress to the point where I can help our team."

Head coach Leslie Frazier put a hush to rumors that Harvin was placed on IR for any reason other than being injured. Frazier said putting Harvin on IR was "the best thing to do as opposed to continuing to try to make something happen that's not going to happen."

Harvin has been out of action since Nov. 4 with a severe ankle sprain.
