Chet Holmgren is the favorite to win the award.

Ten of the top senior boys basketball players in Minnesota have been announced as candidates for the annual Mr. Basketball award.

Waseca and Champlin Park have two players each up for the award, with Ryan Dufault and Andrew Morgan from Waseca, and Francis Nwaokorie and Joshua Strong from Champlin Park.

The heavy favorite is the top senior recruit in the country, 7-footer Chet Holmgren of Minnehaha Academy. He's among a very strong group of Class 3A representatives, which includes the Waseca duo, star Richfield guard Lamar Grayson, and Delano's Trey Longstreet.

The only small school candidate is Will Tschetter, of Stewartville. He is committed to play college basketball at Michigan.

The only other Class 4A players, along with the Champlin Park duo, are Noah Paulson of Duluth East and Eastview's Henry Shannon.

Here they are again in alphabetical order:

  • Ryan Dufault – Waseca
