Here are the brackets for the 2019 State Boys' Hockey Tournament

Defending champs Minnetonka and Orono didn't reach the tourney this year.

The brackets for the 2019 State Boys' Hockey Tournament have been released in advance of next week's action at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. 

In Class AA, Edina received the top seed followed by Blaine, Eden Prairie, St. Thomas Academy and Duluth East. The final three teams – Lakeville South, White Bear Lake and Moorhead – were matched up with higher seeds by random draw. 

In Class A, the top seed went to Mahtomedi, with seeds 2-5 going to St. Cloud Cathedral, East Grand Forks, Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin and Delano. The remaining teams – Minnesota River, North Branch and New Ulm – were matched up with higher seeds by random draw. 

Here's how the tourney action will unfold Wednesday when Class A quarterfinals are played. 

11 a.m. - #2 St. Cloud Cathedral vs. North Branch

1 p.m. - #3 East Grand Forks vs. Minnesota River

6 p.m. - #1 Mahtomedi vs. New Ulm

8 p.m. - #4 Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin vs. #5 Delano

Note: start times are approximate and usually end up being about 30 minutes later than the schedule indicates. 

Here's how the tourney action will unfold Thursday when Class AA quarterfinals begin. 

11 a.m. - #2 Blaine vs. White Bear lake

1 p.m. - #3 Eden Prairie vs. Lakeville South

6 p.m. - #1 Edina vs. Moorhead

8 p.m. - #4 St. Thomas Academy vs. #5 Duluth East

The semifinals for both A and AA will be played Friday, with the championship games happening at noon and 7 p.m., respectively, on Saturday.
