Herschel Walker: Vikings should trade Peterson

This story isn't related to a Flashback Friday about the Herschel Walker trade, but Walker himself is in the news because he's opining on the Adrian Peterson situation.

Should the Vikings trade the disgruntled running back?

Walker says yes.

"They should trade him because I think Adrian has lost his love for the Vikings with everything that went on last year," Walker said in a interview with the Pioneer Press. "There is a lot of bad blood right now. I think Adrian feels that (the Vikings) should have supported him throughout his tough time, and I think they should trade him if they can."

Walker was the centerpiece of the most lopsided trade in, arguably, sports history. Minnesota sent premium draft pick after premium draft pick to the Dallas Cowboys for Walker. Walker rushed for 148 yards in his debut with the Vikings but never finished a season in Minnesota with 1,000 yards, according to NFL.com. The Cowboys, meanwhile, turned the bevy of picks from the Vikings into a dynasty that won three Super Bowls in the 1990s.

The lopsided trade helped the Cowboys acquire Emmitt Smith in the 1990 NFL Draft. Smith, now the NFL's all-time leading rusher, told FOX 4 News in Dallas that the Cowboys would be a Super Bowl contender with Peterson.

However, the Cowboys, according to Yahoo Sports' Charles Robinson, haven't called the Vikings about a trade for Peterson.

Robinson says the only realistic suitors for a possible trade with the Vikings are Arizona, Jacksonville, Tampa Bay and maybe the Atlanta Falcons.
