Hill-Murray awaiting state tourney fate after 'potential COVID-19 exposure'
The Hill-Murray boys hockey team is hoping it will be able to play in the state tournament after a potential exposure to COVID-19 involving an opponent.
"We’re working with the MN Dept. of Health and the MN State High School League to determine the eligibility of our boys varsity hockey players following a potential COVID-19 exposure with an opposing player," a school spokesperson said in a statement to Bring Me The News. "We hope our boys will be playing in the State Tournament this week."
The Star Tribune's David La Vaque first reported the news, citing a source who said Hill-Murray didn't practice Monday while adding that none of the Hill-Murray players are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.
The boys tournament begins Tuesday with the Class 1A quarterfinals. Class 2A quarterfinals are Wednesday at the Xcel Energy Center, with Hill-Murray, the No. 2 seed, scheduled to play in the opening game at 11 a.m. against Wayzata.

6 p.m. - #1 Hermantown (19-1-0) vs. Dodge County (17-3-1)
8 p.m. - #4 Little Falls (13-4-1) vs. #5 Delano (14-6-1)
Class 2A quarterfinals - Wednesday, Mar. 31
11 a.m. - #2 Hill-Murray (18-2-0) vs. Wayzata (13-5-2)
1 p.m. - #3 Lakeville South (18-0-2) vs. Moorhead (13-7-1)
6 p.m. - #1 Eden Prairie (18-1-2) vs. St. Thomas Academy (13-4-3)
8 p.m. - #4 Maple Grove (20-1-0) vs. #5 Andover (18-2-1)
The semifinals will be played April 2, with Class 1A taking the ice for the morning/afternoon slate, followed by the 2A semifinalists in the night slate.
Both the girls and boys state championship games are scheduled for April 3.
