Hockey Day Minnesota features telethon to raise money for Jack Jablonski

It's Hockey Day Minnesota on Saturday and FOX Sports North, the Minnesota Wild and Wells Fargo are teaming up to host an all day telethon in hopes of raising money for Jack Jablonski. 16 hours of hockey games begins at 9:00 a.m., featuring high school, Gophers and Wild hockey games.

'Jack's Pledge' started to get hockey players to commit to playing safe

The Minneapolis Hockey Association is hoping to get as many hockey players, ages four and up, to sign "Jack's Pledge." The goal is to get hockey players to commit to playing safe in tribute to 16-year-old Jack Jablonski, who was paralyzed after being checked from behind.

The Minnesota Wild, FOX Sports North and Wells Fargo have changed plans for Hockey Day Minnesota. The three high school hockey games that were scheduled to be played outside at Excelsior Bay on Lake Minnetonka, have been moved inside to the Pagal Activity Center in Minnetonka. Warm weather created poor ice conditions, forcing the games indoors.

According to family, the Benilde-St. Margaret's sophomore is getting stronger and will begin rehabilitation soon. Jablonski is sitting up in a specialized chair and moving his arms below the triceps. The 16-year-old hockey player was checked from behind during a junior-varsity game on December 30. Jablonski severed his spinal cord and fractured two vertebrae.

A handful of teammates made the special visit, including first baseman Justin Morneau. He told Fox Sports North "it was amazing to see how positive he was." The Benilde-St. Margaret's sophomore was paralyzed during a hockey game late last month. The 16-year-old hockey player is determined to walk and skate again, despite his severed spinal cord.

Jack Jablonski goes home

Benilde-St. Margaret's hockey player Jack Jablonski left the Sister Kenny institute, where he's been rehabbing since January 23. Jablonski was paralyzed in a hockey accident in late December. His family is moving into a handicapped-accessible apartment until their home is remodeled.

Jablonski keeps a positive attitude

It's been about two months since Jack Jablonski was paralyzed during a high school hockey game. In that time, Jablonski has gained the attention of the nation, not solely because of his injury, but also with a positive attitude.

Jack Jablonski's head varsity hockey coach at Benilde-St. Margaret's talked to KARE 11 Sports Director Randy Shaver. Doctors confirmed Thursday the 16-year-old high school sophomore is not expected to regain any movement in his legs or left arm.
