'Home of the Fighting Sioux' sign goes to auction

At least one of the "Home of the Fighting Sioux" signs that once greeted UND hockey and basketball fans is going to the auction block.
Forum Communications reports that the letters removed from Ralph Engelstad Arena last fall will be sold through an online auction starting at 8 a.m. on Monday.
There are six sets of letters that make up the 70-foot wide phrase. Only one so far is planned to be auctioned off.
The signs were taken down last fall to comply with the terms of a settlement that ended a lawsuit over the nickname, however most Fighting Sioux imagery can stay.
