After leading Hopkins to the state Class 4A Championship over the weekend, Amir Coffey picked up another major award Monday. Coffey was named Mr. Basketball by the Minnesota Basketball Coaches Association.

The award goes to the top senior basketball player in the state.

Coffey averaged 19.9 points per game for Hopkins this season, leading the Royals to a 31-1 record and their first state title since 2011 and 9th overall.

Coffey will stay in Minnesota and play for the Gophers next season. He is the son of former Gophers great Richard Coffey, and the brother of Northwestern women's basketball standout Nia Coffey.

The winner is invited to an honorary dinner along with the Ms. Basketball Minnesota winner.
