An Inver Grove Heights faces up to 10 years in prison and a $2 million fine after being indicted on charges of conspiracy and trafficking in counterfeit goods.

The Pioneer Press reports United States Attorney's Office said that a federal grand jury indicted Brian Todd Gore, 45. The indictment was unsealed on Friday.

Citing the indictment, WCCO said Gore is accused of ordering fake jerseys imported from suppliers in China between November 2009 and September 2012. He's accused of selling the imported jerseys to an as-yet unnamed co-conspirator with the knowledge that they would be sold to unsuspecting members of the public. Those jerseys were sold at a Roseville store, according to the U.S. Attorney.

The indictment said that Gore transported hundreds of counterfeit jerseys in his van and stored them at his residence in Inver Grove Heights and in a leased storage unit in Des Moines, Iowa. KARE reported that Gore is also accused of traveling to 2010 NFL Super Bowl in Miami to sell counterfeit NFL jerseys. He allegedly possessed around 383 counterfeit NFL jerseys at the time.

“Trafficking in counterfeit goods is not a victimless crime,” said Special Agent in Charge J. Michael Netherland of Homeland Security Investigations in St. Paul. “Buying these items may appear at first to be a bargain, but when we take into account how the money it generates is often tied to organized crime or worse, we see that this ‘victimless crime’ harms us all in the long run.
