Antoine Winfield waits while QB's pick on Josh Robinson

Sean Jensen of the Pioneer Press isn't picking on Vikings defensive back Josh Robinson, he's just laying out some factual stats.

Per Jensen, opposing quarterbacks are completing 92.1 percent of the passes they throw to the player Robinson is covering. That's the worst percentage in the NFL.

It would be one thing if there was a small sample size, but receivers have caught 35 passes against Robinson. That's 13 more than any other cornerback in the NFL has allowed.

"He's had some struggles, in particular inside playing the nickel position," head coach Leslie Frazier said of Robinson. "That's been a challenge for him with all the things we ask that position to do."

That position was manned by Antoine Winfield last season, and Jensen believes the best plan right now is for the Vikings to do everything in their power to bring Winfield back.

Without Winfield, the Vikings might have to turn to the current roster for help. The Star Tribune reports that Frazier could choose to put rookie Xavier Rhodes in the starting lineup ahead of Robinson.

"Xavier is doing some good things," Frazier said. "He is playing a lot in our nickel package which almost equates to being a starter with the number of snaps you get. We’ll see how he continues to progress. Josh has had some ups and downs, but we think he’s going to get better. We’ll evaluate that coming out of the bye as well."
