Despite very public struggles over the last few years and a lackluster spring training up to this point, Justin Morneau will likely start for the Twins at first base on opening day. However, the Twins are very deep at that position if things don't improve quickly for the former MVP.
Morneau: DH for now?
Justin Morneau might be used as a designated hitter more often than a first baseman this season. Doctors have told Morneau that he's more vulnerable to concussion symptoms returning if his body wears down. Morneau is hot over his last three spring games, going 4-9 with two doubles, two homers and five RBI -- all of which he was the Twins' designated hitter.

Gardenhire says Morneau is going to have some good days and bad days, but the important thing is that he is healthy now.
