Former Minnesota prep basketball standout Jalen Suggs put on an electrifying show in the Elite 8 Tuesday night as his near-triple double helped No. 1 Gonzaga rout USC 85-66 to advance to the NCAA Final Four.
Suggs finished with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists – just two assists shy of a triple-double on the biggest stage college basketball has to offer.
The former Minnehaha Academy two-sport star – Ohio State recruited him as a quarterback in football – is now the lead star (arguably) for a Gonzaga team that is just two wins away from becoming an undefeated NCAA championship.
Suggs' dominant performance comes one day after former Hopkins super recruit Paige Bueckers scored 28 points to lead Connecticut to the NCAA women's Final Four.
Throw in Gable Steveson being the heavyweight champion in NCAA DI wrestling, and three of four teams – Minnesota State, St. Cloud State and Minnesota Duluth – in the men's hockey Frozen Four, and it's safe to say that Minnesotans are completely dominating college sports right now.
