Jimmy Butler confirms meeting with Wolves is happening

But he didn't help ease the tension.

Jimmy Butler did not meet with Timberwolves president/coach Tom Thibodeau on Monday.

Nope. He certainly didn't because he let everyone know that his meeting is today (Tuesday) with a tweet that leaves the door for speculation as wide open as ever.

Butler tweeted: "exactly why people need to stop believing what you see on the internet.. I didn’t have no damn meeting today... its tomorrow.. i wonder what else people write and people believe hmmm..."

Butler has had every opportunity this offseason to stomp out rumors that say he has no interest in re-signing with the Wolves beyond the upcoming 2018-19 season.

He's clearly aware of what's being reported about him, so he has to know that fans believe his meeting with Thibodeau will be about his future with the franchise. And he has to be aware that the entire world thinks he's frustrated with Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins.

Despite what he knows he's elected to stay quiet on the reported problems, and his tweet Monday didn't do anything other than fan the flames and boost speculation.

Sure, maybe his meeting will be smooth and he'll let Thibodeau know that everything is cool. But if that's the case why doesn't he simply say so?

As KFAN's Dan Barreiro said, "the floor is yours."

Wolves training camp begins next week and nobody really knows what the team's internal dynamics are like. But from the outside looking in, it doesn't look good.
