Delta didn't have any available upgrades.

How blue collar is Minnesota native and Olympic hero John Shuster?

Here's a guy who just one week ago today was getting buried on social media for struggling at the Olympics for a third straight time, but then he manned up, turned into the Terminator of curling and led the U.S. to five straight wins and the gold medal.

What everyone is saying about Minnesota at the Olympics

Obviously, the Chisholm, Minnesota native flew back to America in a private jet or in first class, right?

Not exactly. Delta was his ride home but even they apologized because they didn't have any available upgrades for Team Shuster.

So Shuster got on the plane, stuffed his 6-foot frame into his sardine can of a coach seat, and got ready to suffer through a 12+ hour flight back to the U.S.

Then, a hero emerged. Someone in first class offered Shuster his seat.

It's unclear if Shuster's teammates, John Landenstein, Tyler George, Matt Hamilton and Joe Polo, were given similar gifts, but nonetheless this is one hell of a story.
