Karl-Anthony Towns returned to the lineup, but the Minnesota Timberwolves dropped another game on Wednesday night, falling to the Los Angeles Clippers 119-112.
The story of the night was the return of Towns, who had missed the last 13 games after contracting COVID-19. After disputing a pre-game report that he'd be making his return, Towns hit the court and posted 18 points and 10 rebounds in 30 minutes.
When Towns wasn't on the court, the Timberwolves relied on Naz Reid. The second-year center had a strong game off the bench, posting 23 points as the Wolves built a 53-47 lead at halftime.
While the Timberwolves had the advantage in the first half, the Clippers asserted themselves in the second. Kawhi Leonard put up 36 points with seven rebounds and five assists to lead the charge and Lou Williams scored 27 points off the bench and to help the Clippers build a 13-point lead.
Minnesota cut the lead down to eight points, with just over five minutes to go, but the combination of Williams and Leonard hit too many big shots as the Wolves fell to 6-19 on the season.
The Timberwolves will look to rebound on Friday night against the Charlotte Hornets.
