What the heck is going on with the Timberwolves? It's like the Lakers moved back to Minneapolis and brought their injury issues with them. While the Lakers have been one of the most injury-plagued teams of late, the Timberwolves are giving them a run for their money.

Kevin Martin is the latest Wolf to go down with an injury – a fractured wrist that he suffered in Wednesday's blowout win over the Knicks.

Martin suffered the injury when he connected on a 4-point play in the first quarter of the game. He continued playing and scored a season-high 37 points. He's clearly grimacing in pain in this photo.

The Star Tribune notes that Martin broke his right wrist – his shooting wrist – and will be re-evaluated next week to determine if surgery is necessary. Jerry Zgoda speculated that surgery could get him back on the court in four to six weeks, much like a broken wrist to his non-shooting hand in 2009 did.

Andrew Wiggins will be the only opening day starter actually starting Friday night's game against the San Antonio Spurs. Ricky Rubio (ankle), Nikola Pekovic (wrist) and Thaddeus Young (death of his mother) are all out. Young is expected to rejoin the team next week. Pekovic will be re-evaluated early next week.

Martin is averaging 20.4 points per game and shooting a blistering 48.1 percent on 3-pointers this season, according to NBA.com.
