Kevin Williams may not be done with the Vikings afterall

Longtime Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle Kevin Williams is still looking for a new team, but he might not have to go far if what he told Sirius XM Radio is true.

“We had several talks since [head coach Mike Zimmer has] been there," Williams said, as reported by the Star Tribune. "They just felt they were going to try to go younger, but still they talked to [my agent] lately and they might be trying to ease back into the picture. We’ll know more maybe as the week goes on.”

Matt Vensel says it's a bit of a surprise to hear about Williams talking to the Vikings. Minnesota bolstered its defensive line after the departure of Williams and Jared Allen, who signed with the Bears, by inking deals with Linval Joseph, Tom Johnson, Corey Wootten, and drafting nose tackle Shamar Stephen.

Williams told Sirius XM's Rich Gannon and Bruce Murray that he believes he would be a good fit for a team that rotates its defensive linemen – like the Vikings did last season.

The 33-year-old reportedly made a free-agent visit with the Patriots last week.

Williams recently said he's not afraid to retire if he can't catch on with a team that pays him a fair contract and has a chance to win.

“If it’s not worth the risk of going back out there, I can’t say I’ll do it,” Williams told the Pioneer Press in May. “I don’t see (taking a low-value deal) at this point, but you never know.”

However, money isn't a big deal based on what he said today.

Stay tuned for more.
