Kill may not be on sidelines, but he is working the phones

Gophers head football coach Jerry Kill was at practice once again today, as he continues to work his way back from his indefinite leave of absence in which he's been focusing on the treatment of his epilepsy.

Since Kill's leave of absence began, he hasn't missed a game and the team is undefeated, including their first win over a ranked team under Kill.

He talked to reporters today and told the Star Tribune of not increasing his role this week: "We've won back-to-back games, let's not upset the apple cart."

He also said he's been doing plenty of recruiting and has made calls consistently to let recruits know he's fine.

Recruiting questions have been ongoing as Kill's epileptic seizures have persisted, with both acting head coach Tracy Claeys and Kill downplaying any negative effect Kill's condition would have on the program.

He will once again be in the coach's box when the Hoosiers take on Indiana Saturday.

In typically humble and unselfish Jerry Kill fashion, he answered a question about his assistants having to field more of the load and how they are financially compensated like this.
