The Wild took plenty of shots on goal Sunday afternoon in their game against the Kings, but Los Angeles' Jonathan Quick stopped nearly all of them. Quick, one of the best goalies in the league, stopped 40 shots to help the Kings defeat the Wild 2-1, NHL.com reports.

The only score Quick allowed came from the Wild's Matt Cooke at 6:47 in the third period, when Cooke found himself alone in front of the net with his back to Quick and backhanded the puck into the net. It was Cooke's first goal of the season.

The Wild were in the power play five times during the game but couldn't score on any of them. So far this season they're 0-for-16 on power plays, according to the Star Tribune.

The Kings got goals from Tyler Toffoli in the first period and Tanner Pearson in the third – he scored the game-winner at 2:58 of the final period.

Minnesota goalie Niklas Backstrom made his first start since Jan. 11 and stopped 14 of 16 shots, according to NHL.com. His 2013-14 season was cut short by abdominal and hip surgeries.

The reigning Stanley Cup Champion Kings (4-1-1) have won four straight.

The Wild (2-2-0) also lost 2-1 Friday night in Anaheim against the Ducks, when they were 0-for-3 on power plays. They return home to face the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday.

There was a scary moment in the game for Jason Zucker.
