It's official, Kirk Cousins is in purple and gold with a three-year, $84 million contract that could reach $90 million with incentives, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Sporting a striped purple and gold tie, Cousins was introduced to Minnesota Thursday afternoon, saying he picked the Vikings because it was his best chance to win.

"Winning is what I said it would be all about, and it's true. I came here because of the chance to win," Cousins said. "I felt like it was probably the best chance, and that's all that matters in this business."

Kirk Cousins' account is the most wholesome thing on Twitter

He admitted that his 5-6 days in Minnesota during Super Bowl week were helpful in allowing him to scout the Twin Cities, but ultimately, the "total commitment" from Vikings ownership, Zygi and Mark Wilf, to GM Rick Spielman and head coach Mike Zimmer, is what sold him.

"The pieces are in place," Cousins said. "I'm hungry, I'm really excited about the potential that is here."

And yes, Cousins definitely likes the new monster contract he signed. Year by year, here's how much cash he'll be making, per SpoTrac.

  • 2018: $26,000,000
  • 2019: $28,000,000
  • 2020: $30,000,000

Cousins will only be 32 years old when he's eligible for another monster contract before the 2021 season, and the internal drive certainly exists within him.

"I have always felt a little bit underrated, a little bit overlooked. As a result, there is a fire there."
