Koivu will try and practice again Friday before being reevaluated before Saturday's game against Carolina. Mike Yeo said Backstrom looked "really good", but there isn't a timetable for his return.

Koivu practices again, close to returning
Minnesota Wild captain Mikko Koivu celebrated his 29th birthday by practicing for the second time in three days. He tells the Star Tribune that his shoulder injury is "getting better each and every day." Koivu has missed 20 of the Wild's past 24 games.
Christensen and Koivu lift Wild over Panthers

Backstrom back at practice, doubtful to start at San Jose
Niklas Backstrom took shots during the Wild's practice in San Jose Monday, but he's doubtful to start Tuesday night's game against the Sharks. Josh Harding will likely start in goal. The Sharks have lost three of four, but Minnesota is 1-8-1 in their last ten at the Shark Tank.
Backstrom expects to return soon
Wild goalie Niklas Backstrom practiced for a second day in a row Tuesday, and he could return to game action before the end of the season. Backstrom says, "I'm trying to do everything I can so it will be soon." He injured his groin in a March 1st game against Montreal.
Yeo tight-lipped about Koivu injury
After several injuries already this year, the Star Tribune reports that Wild captain Mikko Koivu did not practice on Tuesday morning because of another undisclosed injury. Coach Yeo says it remains unclear if the center will travel with the team on its upcoming road trip.
