Larry Fitzgerald won't make a hasty decision about future in NFL

At age 33 and still at the top of his game, Larry Fitzgerald will take some time before deciding his future in the NFL.

When his career is over there's no doubt that Larry Fitzgerald will go down as one of the greatest Minnesota natives to ever play in the NFL.

But the Arizona Cardinals wide receiver isn't ready to say whether he'll walk away from the game at the end of the season.

"Once that (season) wears off, you have a better determination – feeling – of what you want to do at that point," Fitzgerald told AZCardinals.com Thursday. "I think the best thing is not to make any hasty decisions. That's the process I'm going to take."

Fitzgerald is a Minneapolis native, who grew up alongside former Vikings greats Cris Carter and Randy Moss when he served as the team's ball boy in the late 90s, while Denny Green was the Vikings head coach.

He went on to star in college at Pittsburgh, then was drafted by the Cardinals with the No. 3 overall pick in 2004 – when Green was coaching Arizona.

If Fitzgerald wants to play, there's no question that he still can. Last week we was named to his 10th Pro Bowl.

At age 33, he enters Sunday's regular-season finale only four catches behind Pittsburgh's Antonio Brown for the NFL lead. He's caught 102 passes for 980 yards and five touchdowns this year for the Cardinals, but he wasn't about to take the focus off his team's goals during the final week of the season.

"It's not about me," Fitzgerald added. "This is a team game. I am one of 1,600 (players in the NFL). I've had a great time doing it, but I will never say, 'I'm about to do this' and try to get some adulation. That's not how I'm wired. Tim Duncan is more my speed."
