Lindsay Whalen shook up the sports world Monday by announcing that she plans to retire from the Minnesota Lynx and WNBA at the end of the season.
Whalen, in her first year as head coach of the Gophers women's basketball team, is in her 15th season in the WNBA and she's left quite the impression on her basketball peers.
Reigning WNBA MVP Sylvia Fowles teared up on Fox Sports North while saying her last three years with the Lynx have been the best of her career thanks to Whalen.
LeBron James took time to recognize Whalen's accomplishments, referring to her as "Lindsay Wins." His was one of many tributes to the likely future Hall of Fame guard.
Whalen will finish the regular season and playoffs with the Lynx and then focus solely on coaching the Gophers.
