Lindsey Vonn adopts puppy with bad knee

Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn adopted a dog. Not just any dog -- a dog with a bad knee.

The ironic part of the story is that Vonn, just one day earlier, announced that her unstable knee would keep her from participating in the upcoming Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. She said making the announcement was "devastating."

According to FOX Sports, Vonn adopted the 9-month-old puppy from an animal shelter near Jupiter, Florida.

WPBF says "Leo" is a brindle boxer mix that Vonn and her boyfriend Tiger Woods first saw just before Christmas. Woods, who recently cracked $1.3 billion in career earnings, wanted a pit-bull mix, but Vonn got what she wanted.

"He has a bad knee, just like me," Vonn told WPBF as she ushered Leo into the back seat of her Porsche.

Leo's had a tough go of late. He was hit by a car, suffered a broken leg and was given up by his previous owner. But it sure looks like he's in good hands now.
