Francisco Liriano's next start is expected to come May 1. In the meantime, the struggling lefty will use the extra time off to "clear my head." He'll throw bullpen sessions Wednesday and Saturday to try and figure out his problems. He says "missing one start is going to be good for me."

Liriano ready to get back on the mound

Francisco Liriano has had nine days to relax and refocus in hopes of finding success on the mound again. After struggling to throw strikes, Liriano says he's keeping the ball down and "things are working out way better" after throwing a couple of bullpen sessions. He'll start Tuesday night against the Angels.

Twins taking a step back with Liriano

After another rough outing the Minnesota Twins plan to "take a step back" with Francisco Liriano. Ron Gardenhire says "we're going to step back to see what we need to do to try to get his confidence back." If this means a move to the bullpen, Liriano said, "That would be OK with me."

The left-hander threw about 70 pitches during a bullpen session Saturday. Liriano was pulled from his last scheduled start to give him time to regain his confidence. He'll go for his first win of the season on May 1 in Anaheim.
