Andrew Landry grabbed the lead after a rain-shortened first day of the U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania.

Landry woke up Friday morning to play his final hole from the first round, and he birdied it to go into the clubhouse with the lead at -4.

The big story of day one was the weather. Only nine players actually completed Thursday's round, as a pair of weather delays slowed play.

Lightning was a threat and more than half-an-inch of rain was reported from the storms.

ESPN notes some of the players voiced displeasure that they were not allowed to warm up after the first 79-minute delay.

The first round is expected to resume on Friday at about 6:30 a.m. central time.
