Local radio host Joe 'Mr. Phunn' Anderson dropped by ESPN 1500
Twin Cities sports radio personality Joe Anderson, also known to listeners as "Mr. Phunn," was fired Friday by ESPN 1500, the Star Tribune reported.
Anderson has been hosting a 9 a.m. to noon program on the station for more than a year with former Star Tribune sports reporter Judd Zulgad.
Prior to that, Anderson worked with Dan Barreiro afternoons on KFAN-AM for about a decade.
According to the Star Tribune, Anderson said on his Twitter account that the parting between he and ESPN was amicable. He told the paper that the move came because ESPN wanted to go in a different direct.
Anderson also told the Star Tribune that he will paid along with health benefits by ESPN through the end of his contract, and will now focus on his his real estate business.
