The Minnesota Lynx were in control throughout tonight at Target Center, pulling away early from the Atlanta Dream and never relinquishing control of WNBA Finals Game 1, beating Atlanta 84-59.

The WNBA's third-best defense held the Dream to just 25 first half points, Atlanta missed all of their 15 three point attempts in the game, and WNBA-leading scorer Angel McCoughtry was just 6-24 from the field. Minnesota is now 18-2 at home.

Lynx Forward Maya Moore was the best player on the court all night, playing efficiently and getting anything she wanted on the court, finishing the matchup with 23 points and seven rebounds. Guards Seimone Augustus and Monica Wright also finished in double figures, and the Lynx are now just two wins from their second WNBA title in three years.

Lynx Forward/Center Janel McCarville played despite a back injury, putting up seven points.

Minnesota Timberwolves Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio were in attendance to support their Target Center counterparts, with Kevin Love at one point saying he'd like the Wolves attitude to be like the Lynx this coming year. Rubio was also enthused.

The Dream try to bounce back from their Sunday nightmare Tuesday at Target Center against Minnesota in Game 2 of the Finals, a 7:00 p.m. tipoff.
