The Minnesota Lynx now know who their opponent will be in the first round of the WNBA playoffs, which get underway Thursday. They'll play the San Antonio Stars, who locked up the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference playoffs by beating the Chicago Sky 84-72 Sunday, the Associated Press reports.

Danielle Adams had 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Stars (16-18) to the win. Becky Hammon, who is retiring from the WNBA at the end of the season to become an assistant coach with the San Antonio Spurs NBA team, had four rebounds in 10 minutes for the Stars, according to the AP.

Both teams had already clinched playoff berths; the game determined who their opponents would be.

San Antonio tied with Los Angeles for third in the Western Conference but earned the No. 3 seed on a tiebreaker to avoid a first-round matchup with Phoenix, the league's best team.

Their first game against the defending champion Lynx (25-9), the No. 2 seed in the West, is Thursday night at Target Center in Minneapolis. (Ticket information here)

"I feel we’ve got a little rhythm going into the playoffs, we’ll take some time and get ready,” said San Antonio coach Dan Hughes, according to the AP. “But they’re just awfully good. Minnesota is an exceptional basketball team.”

The last time the Lynx played the Stars was on Friday night and they lost 92-76, which was their third straight defeat. Minnesota closed out the regular season Saturday night with an 80-63 win over Tulsa.

The Sky are seeded fourth in the Eastern Conference after losing their last two games. They will play top-seeded Atlanta (19-15).
