Minnesota Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve will be an assistant coach for the United States women's basketball team at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, USA Basketball announced Monday. Reeve was an assistant last fall when Team USA went undefeated to claim the Gold medal at the FIBA World Championships, the Pioneer Press notes.

She joins DePaul's Doug Bruno and South Carolina's Dawn Staley as assistants under head coach, Geno Auriemma of the University of Connecticut.

“I’m thrilled to be continuing with the USA Basketball Women’s National Team for the 2016 Olympics,” Reeve said in a statement from USA Basketball. “I thoroughly enjoyed working alongside Geno, Doug and Dawn, as well as the amazing USA National Team players at the World Championship. I look forward to competing for gold in Rio.”

Reeve, per Basketball-Reference, has compiled a career coaching record (all with Minnesota) of 118 wins and 52 losses. She's also led the Lynx to wins in nearly 80 percent of playoff games, including title runs in 2011 and 2013.

On Monday, NBC released a preview of the 2016 summer games. It's only 550 days away, so the countdown is apparently on.
