The same day the Golden Gophers dropped out of the Top 25 Coaches Poll, a pair of in-state college football teams are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the latest Division II football poll, released Monday by the American Football Coaches Association.

Minnesota State University, Mankato (8-0) is the No. 1 team in the land for a second week in a row while Minnesota-Duluth (8-0) jumped one spot to No. 2.

The Mavericks snuck by Augustana with a 34-28 win on Saturday and UMD, led by quarterback Drew Bauer's five touchdowns, blasted Bemidji State, 38-10 on Saturday. It was their 16th straight win, dating back to last year, and 21st consecutive home win over the Beavers, according to UMD's athletics department.

The Bulldogs moved up a spot thanks to Henderson State, last week's No. 2 team in the country, losing to Harding.

"Right now this isn't about any other team," UMD head coach Curt Wiese said. "This is about us continuing to get better every week."

Minnesota State has won 30 straight Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference games dating back to Week 1 of the 2012 season. A 31st straight conference win will have to come this Saturday on the road against Sioux Falls, which remains undefeated in the NSIC following a big win over Winona State.

UMD finishes the regular season with games against Minnesota Crookston, University of Mary and Minot State. The NCAA Division II playoffs begin Nov. 22.
