Matt Cullen is bringing the Stanley Cup to Minnesota this week

He's going to fill it with ice cream.

Stanley Cup champion Matt Cullen is coming home – and he's bringing Lord Stanley's Cup with him.

Cullen, who was a standout player at Moorhead High School, won the Stanley Cup with the Pittsburgh Penguins this year.

His day with the Cup is Thursday. He'll be at the famous Moorhead Dairy Queen, located at 24 8th St. S., from 1:30-4 p.m., the City of Moorhead said Tuesday

When asked if Cullen's going to fill it with ice cream, he told the Forum: "I mean, you have to, don't you? ... Yeah, we'll plan on doing that for sure."

And if you haven't heard, Cullen will be spending a lot more time in Minnesota. He decided to play one more year in the NHL, and he'll be doing it here – the Wild signed the three-time Stanley Cup winner to a one-year, $1 million contract earlier this month.

This is the second time since the Penguins won the Cup that the prized trophy will be in Minnesota. Back in July, Jake Guentzel brought the Cup to Woodbury.
