Minnesota State defeats Concordia

The Minnesota State-Mankato Mavericks remained unbeaten on the season as they beat Concordia St. Paul 27-7 Saturday afternoon in St. Paul.

Maverick quarterback Jon Wolf was over 100 yards rushing for the second straight week, as he rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown in the Maverick win.

Dennis Carter returned a punt 84 yards for a touchdown to get the Mavericks on the board, while Sam Brockshus kicked four field goals.

The Maverick defense also intercepted Concordia quarterbacks Jared Russo and James Peterson three times in the game.

MSU (5-0) takes on Augustana, next Saturday. While Concordia (3-2) will play at Upper Iowa.

Minnesota Duluth runs over St. Cloud State

There will be no home losing streak at Maloski Stadium in Duluth as the University of Minnesota Duluth ran all over St. Cloud State on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs totaled 471 rushing yards on the day on their way to a 34-7 win over the Huskies in a battle of the two top teams in the NSIC North Division.

Austin Sikorski ran for 177 yards and two touchdowns, and Logan Lauters ran for 107 and two scores to lead the Bulldogs. Quarterback Drew Bauer also got into the act as he ran for 86 yards on the afternoon as well.

St. Cloud State's high powered, high flying offense never got off the ground. Husky quarterback Phil Klaphake completed just 13 of 29 passing for 102 yards in the loss. The Huskies had just 190 yards of total offense in the game.

The Bulldogs are (4-1) they play at Minnesota State-Moorhead on saturday. St. Cloud State (4-1) will play host Minnesota Crookston.

Winona takes flight to beat the Peacocks

The Winona State Warriors won a shootout 49-32 in the NSIC South Division as they defeated Upper Iowa University on Saturday in Winona.

Warrior quarterback Jack Nelson threw for 333 yards and 3 touchdowns, both of which are career highs.

Winona got the offense running early, as they scored 28 first half points on their way to the victory.

Alan May led the Warrior receivers, he caught four passes for 108 yards and scored a touchdown.

Winona (3-2) plays at Sioux Falls next Saturday. Upper Iowa (3-2) hosts Concordia.
