The Phoenix Mercury clinched a playoff berth by taking down the Minnesota Lynx - the WNBA's best team - 79-67 Sunday.

The Mercury had a 10-2 run in the second half which gave them a double-digit lead that the Lynx couldn't break for the rest of the game, the Associated Press reports.

The Lynx went into halftime trailing 37-22. Minnesota shot just 23 percent from the floor in the first half.

Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve was ejected in the third quarter after getting two technical fouls, the Associated Press reports.

The Lynx only outscored Phoenix in the fourth quarter, scoring 25 to the Mercury's 19. But it wasn't enough for the win.

Overall, the Lynx were shooting a better long game, hitting 40 percent from 3-point range, compared to the Mercury's 22.2 percent. However, Minnesota's overall shooting percentage was poorer - 38.7 percent compared to Phoenix with 46.2 percent.

Maya Moore led the Lynx again with 17 points. Sylvia Fowles had a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Anna Cruz had 15 points, and Renee Montgomery put up 11.

The Lynx are still the best team in the WNBA with a 19-9 record, and Phoenix trails by 2.5 games in the Western Conference. The two teams will meet again in Minnesota in one week.

Next up, the Lynx are headed to Madison Square Garden to play the New York Liberty on Friday. Game starts at 6:30 p.m.
