Miami shuts out Mankato, 4-0
Miami (Ohio) knocked Minnesota State University Mankato out of the NCAA tournament Saturday, defeating the Mavericks 4-0.
The Redhawks' Curtis McKenzie scored with 8:56 left in the second period to break a scoreless deadlock. Miami followed it up by scoring three more goals in the third period.
Two Mankato shots hit posts in the opening period but good scoring chances were hard to come by the rest of the game, the Associated Press says. This was the Maverick's second NCAA tournament appearance.
The Redhawks will take on St. Cloud in the regional finals Sunday.
University of North Dakota is also out of the tournament after a 4-1 loss to Yale.
Yale will advance to the Frozen Four in Pittsburgh on April 11.
Yale also beat the Gophers, 3-2, in the first round of the tournament.
