Mike Wallace wants catches and yards, not penalties

It hasn't been the season that Mike Wallace or the Vikings envisioned when Minnesota traded a fifth round draft pick to Miami for the explosive receiver.

Wallace was supposed to give the Vikings the deep threat that's been missing alongside Adrian Peterson and young quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.

However, it hasn't worked out that way for Wallace. Instead he's been held without a catch in three of Minnesota's last five games. Last Sunday, though, Wallace drew a pair of interference penalties for 39 yards. He also drew a defensive holding foul for five yards and a first down.

But that's not enough for Wallace.

"That's not the same as a catch," Wallace told reporters. "When you have zero catches, you need those yards."

Not catching the football is not something Wallace is used to. According to Pro Football Talk, before the last five games Wallace has only been held without a catch twice in his career.

"We're winning football games, so at the end of the day that's all that matters," Wallace said. "I want to catch the ball, but it's cool."
