Minn. teen with no arms, legs defies odds as high school wrestler

A teenage wrestler from Harding High School in St. Paul is defying the odds every time he goes out on the mat, WCCO-TV reports.

Caleb Smith, a 12o-pound wrestler at Harding, had his arms and legs amputated after contracting a rare blood disease when he was 4 years old, but he hasn't let it slow him down.

Smith started in wrestling in fifth grade, and this season he won his first varsity match.

Smith's coach Otto Kraus said the wrestler has "the kind of strength people don’t normally see at 120," and can make moves that makes it hard for opponents to wrestle him.

Of his motivation, Smith told WCCO, "If you see yourself as not being able to do something, at least you should try and do it," adding that you'll never know what you can do if you don't try.

Smith's next goal is to be a captain on the squad next year.
