The Super Bowl, X Games, Final Four, and now possibly the World Cup?

U.S. Bank Stadium is one of 49 North American venues to submit a bid in hopes of being a potential host for the 2026 men's World Cup.

Canada, the United States and Mexico are part of the United Bid Committee (or UBC), which will determine the North American city that goes up against Morocco for the rights to host the tournament.

With multiple cities declaring interest, the UBC will review submissions from cities and then provide a shortlist by late September.

After the shortlist is provided, the committee will conduct meetings with candidate cities to prepare for the final bid, which will be submitted to FIFA in January 2018, according to U.S. Soccer.

The committee plans to have 20-25 venues in its final bid to FIFA.

However, although one city will ultimately be the host of the World Cup, as many as 12 locations could serve as Official Host Cities, which may include team base camps as well as preliminary or Final Draw matches.

The Pioneer Press notes the only area of concern for U.S. Bank Stadium is that the venue will need to have real grass laid inside. Currently, it uses uses artificial turf.

Last year, the stadium laid temporary grass during an International Champions Cup match between AC Milan and Chelsea.

Such venues as Gillette Stadium in Boston, Soldier Field in Chicago and even Lambeau Field in Green Bay are among U.S. cities that submitted bids.
