Minnesota beats Kentucky in opening round of Little League World Series
Minnesota did just enough to beat Kentucky 2-1 in the opening round of the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Friday afternoon.
The team from Coon Rapids-Andover is the second team representing the Midwest Region to win their opener since 2001, and they did on just two hits, scoring once on an RBI triple and again on a wild pitch.
The play of the game came with runners at first and second and one out in the bottom of the fifth, as Minnesota's shortstop Jackson Knutson made a diving
"It was just unbelievable, I look over and he was in the air," said Minnesota pitcher Jameson Kuznia in an interview with ESPN after the game.
Minnesota advances to the second round and will play Sunday against a team from Virginia, which won the Southeast Region to reach the LLWS. The time of the game has not yet been announced.
