The most obvious snub of all of the finalists is Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City standout Josh Kingery, who led the Falcons to the State Tournament for the first time in 20 years, and was the losing pitcher in the state quarterfinals despite striking out 18 batters against Belle Plaine.
Kingery, the son of former MLB player Mike Kingery, ranks fourth statewide in batting average (.567), tied third in homers (7), sixth in RBI (32), second in hits (41), first in runs (45), first in pitching wins (13), first in strikeouts (182), and fifth in ERA (0.48).
