Representing the Midwest in the 2019 Little League World Series will be the little league squad from Coon Rapids-Andover, which rallied for a dramatic 8-6 victory over a team from Johnston, Iowa, in the Midwest Regional championship game Saturday.
Trailing 5-1 early, Minnesota rallied to tie the game 5-5 before Jameson Kuznia launched a three-run homer to straightaway center field, which proved to be the winning hit.
The Midwest Regional comprised of teams from Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas and Missouri.
The Little League World Series is held in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Aug. 15-25.
Minnesota opens play Aug. 15 against the winner of the Great Lakes region champion.
