First-time Olympian Amanda Smock will not compete in the women's triple jump finals on Sunday. The Melrose native finished 27th out of 33 competitors, but only the top dozen advance to the final.

Smock's top jump in the preliminary round at the London Olympics was 13.61 meters -- well off the qualifying mark of 14.40 according to the Star Tribune.

Smock achieved her personal best, 14.18 meters, last summer and won the women’s triple jump at the U.S. Track and Field trials in June to compete in the 2012 Olympic Games.
