Minnesota's own Cameron Naasz became the first American to win at the Red Bull Crashed Ice World Championship on Saturday.

Naasz, a 26-year-old Lakeville native who now lives in the Twin Cities, edged out Canada's Scott Croxall to win the championship, marking his third event win this season, according to a news release.

A handful of other Minnesotans finished in the top 10 at the weekend event. Burnsville native Maxwell Dunne finished seventh.

In the women's division, Prior Lake's Sydney O'Keefe finished fifth, while Amanda Trunzo of Andover and Inver Grove Heights' Michaela Michaelson finished in eighth and ninth place, respectively.

The Crashed Ice event was expected to draw 140,000 visitors to St. Paul's Cathedral Hill on Saturday, the Star Tribune reports. People who attend the event bring in an extra $15 million to the city, WCCO says.
